"I of my own knowledge…"

A friend tried to download the free book of poetry and couldn’t make the link work. I should have explained that this was another in my list of coming attractions, available only when the website is completed. Sorry for any confusion/frustration this may have caused. Hang on, we’re getting there.

Poetry – The Marsh                               FREE DOWNLOAD

Ten years we spent-my wife, our two children, our cats, and I-in a suburban house that backed onto a marsh. Although fifty miles from the Atlantic, it was a tidal marsh, and so it felt the influence of the sea.

It was a delight to me to be able to walk to the edge of my own property and venture out in a small canoe. The house was in a subdivision; the marsh was my escape. And regardless the state of the distant tides, there were the herons and the egrets ….

The form of this poetry is the cinquain, an American form of haiku verse comprising five lines of two, four, six, eight and two syllables respectively.

The Marsh comprises 90 cinquains arranged in sections designed to print out as 17 standard 8.5″ x 11″ pages.

 Is there an afterlife? Do God and spirits exist? If so, do they concern themselves with human lives? Of these things, our societyteaches nothing because it knows nothing, and thinks that we can know nothing. So it dismisses the idea of telepathy, out-of-body experiences, ghosts, spirit possession, and any form of afterlife experience, including heaven and hell. It disregards the power of prayer and disbelieves the ability to heal by touch and at a distance.

But from work at The Monroe Institute and elsewhere, I learned how to obtain first-hand knowledge of life beyond what our society considers normal. I learned how to extend my abilities in ways that our society considers to be impossible. My experience shed new light on the reality underlying this world that has been described repeatedly in the world’s scriptures.

From my own experience, I have become convinced that we are immortal spirits temporarily inhabiting bodies. This life is not our only life. And although we see ourselves as separate from each other, we are all connected to one another by way of our intimate connection with a larger being that cares about us and can be trusted. This larger being is a source of foresight and wisdom, made available to us at times of its own choosing and/or upon our request. Nonetheless, we may often lose communication with it, by failing to remember that we are more than we appear to be.

It’s taking a while to get the website completed. While we wait, I thought I might as well provide a preview of coming attractions. Here is one, the novel I recently completed.

Babe in the Woods

We’ve all heard of mystery schools, places where people can go to further their psychic and spiritual development. In our day, there are not a few people claim to be able to provide such training, but – as in most things in life – caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware.

But – how can the buyer beware? On the one hand, you don’t want to be giving your time and your money and your sincerity to something that is only self-delusion, or, worse, a sophisticated con. On the other hand, how can you judge something that (if real) is by definition beyond your ability to judge it? Sometimes there’s nothing to do but to jump in and see for yourself, and hope for the best.

As it happens, I have been fortunate enough to attend a sort of modern American shorthand version of such a mystery school, namely a series of week-long courses at The Monroe Institute. (A week is not a lot of time, but in the right circumstances it can be enough time to get you the tools you need. Then you spend the rest of your life applying them.) This novel is my attempt to give readers the flavor of the experience.

This article from The New York Times should be required reading.

It’s titled “Loyal to its Roots” and probably it’s going to come as a big surprise — one you shouldn’t miss.

At some point this will be recognized as one more blow to the “mechanistic universe” theory that has done so much harm to our civilization. What’s in this story is entirely congruent with what the guys upstairs have been saying for more than seven years.

When I was a junior or senior in college, I wrote a paper on the American reaction to the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939, and in discussing one of the Luce magazines I said something like “they published things they must have known were not true,” to which my professor remarked in a side note, “what a shocker!”

I always have been very naïve. Despite what I saw around me, my own internal reading of reality was always realer to me than reality itself, and so I didn’t see what I was seeing. (As I told my daughter recently, I’m an intuitive, and intuitives aren’t necessarily known for having common sense.)

But the point was, and is, that something within me couldn’t and still can’t accept that we should be surrounded by newspapers, magazines, radio and television shows, internet sites, etc. that lie to us.

I find it very interesting to watch John Whitehead, head of the Rutherford Institute. He is a conservative in the old sense of the word, and, remarkably, apparently an honest man who does not allow a sense of partisanship or ideological loyalty to blind him to the truth.

I have saved this quotation from Intuition, by R. Buckminster Fuller, for many years. So delicious! So true! So liberating, for those still under the thrall of the delusion that “science” defines reality. The free-form verse is a little strange at first, but then you realize that, if written out as prose, his thought would be much harder to follow.
